Ingredients
- 1 package of Rice a Roni, prepare per package instructions, without using the seasoning pack. Does matter which flavor. Definitely toast the rice just as the package instructs.
- 1 large can French’s Onions
- 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1 large Onion, diced (I use Vidalia onions)
- 1 small jar Cheez Whiz
- 1/2 Stick of Butter (4 tablespoons or 57 grams)
- 2 pounds frozen or fresh Broccoli, cooked
Directions
- Prepare rice according to the package direction without using the seasoning
- Cook or steam Broccoli in the microwave or on the stovetop
- Chop Broccoli into small pieces, I like to only use the crown portion of the broccoli.
- In a pan, cook the diced onions with the butter until the onions are tender and translucent.
- Stir together the cooked rice, cooked broccoli, cooked onions, cream of chicken soup, 1/2 can of French’s onions, Cheez Whiz, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread in 9 x 13 casserole dish and top with remaining French’s onions.
- Bake at 350 until golden and bubbly, approximately 30-40 minutes.
You can put the mix in a crock pot and top with the French’s onions and set on high for 2 hours.
